The village of Cottingham in East Yorkshire claims to be the largest village in England with a population of over 14,000 people, and in 2015 created a Neighborhood Plan & Design Guide for developers to follow.
The site of the new homes, historically used for market gardening and nurseries, is situated on the edge of the village. At the end of the 19th Century the land was laid to traditional farmland with the hedge boundaries that exist today. The first commercial market gardens started to appear post-war in the early 1950s, but reached their peak in the mid-1950s.
The new development delivered 36 new dwellings combining an interesting mix of materials with a high level of build quality for which the client is well known.
