Remodelling and Extension to Period House
Hessle, East Yorkshire

Remodelling of period house in conservation area, including extension to rear of property .

The Southfield Conservation Area states “in an area of special architectural or historic interest the character or appearance of which it is desirable to preserve or enhance.” The house on Southfield is no exception to the statement and required sensitive alteration and remodelling.

The client wished to add a large extension to the rear of the property with a single full-height space to function as a social space and/or day space depending upon the circumstance. The original house is a high Victorian dwelling built in the mid-19th Century and therefore the new extension to the rear required a similar level of attention to the form and detail bestowed on the original design.

Attention to detail by the Contractors and commitment to investment by the homeowners has resulted in a high-quality extension which blends with the old house whilst providing a modern living space.
