Wheelhouse Court is a small residential development on land formerly occupied by The Wheelhouse Public House on Beverley Road, Kingston-upon-Hull. It comprises eight contemporary new build two- and three-bedroom homes.
Feedback from Hull City Council’s planning process required the design for the site, of only 0.26 hectares in size and located on an important route into the city, to be of a very high standard and reflect the aspirations of the Hull 2017 UK City of Culture.
The new dwellings offer open-plan living and associated parking. A palette of contemporary materials, oversized overhangs to create depth and interest, and large areas of glazing and balconies on selected properties create an interesting street scene.
